How to make press-ons last 3 weeks

Almost every set that pops off early does so because of what happened in the first five minutes. The nails themselves are built to last — the bond is the part you control.

1. Prep is 80% of the job

Push back cuticles, buff the shine off each nail and wipe with the alcohol pad. Oil and shine are what stop glue from gripping, so do not skip the wipe even if your hands look clean.

2. Size down, never up

A press-on that touches your skin will lift. Pick the size that sits inside your nail edges, and file the sides if you are between two sizes.

3. Press at an angle, then hold

  • Add a thin layer of glue to your nail and the press-on.
  • Place it at the cuticle at a 45° angle and roll it down.
  • Hold firm pressure for 30 seconds — count it out.

4. Give it two hours

Glue keeps curing after you let go. Avoid hot water, washing up and hand cream for the first two hours and your set will thank you for weeks.
